Why Stress becomes Unmanageable

The human body has evolved to adapt and survive. The stress response is a natural part of life. And we have a great ability to adapt to stress. 

But we can still only take on so much before we reach our maximum. 

We often don’t even know how much stress we are accumulating as  the human body is just so good at adapting. So we keep carrying on until eventually something goes wrong. 

Place enough stress on anything, and it will break.

Basically burnout comes from your body spending too much time stuck in active survival mode. Over time, it draws upon too much energy and depletes our reserves.

When the stress response doesn’t switch off, eventually you will experience a range of symptoms. ​

  • Overthinking

  • Tight chest / tension

  • Constant overwhelm

Stress isn’t only mental; it comes from more than just our thoughts. It can be chemical, as well as physical (such as traumas and accidents). 

Over time, the Stresses accumulate (starting in life as early as from the birthing process - for many this in itself is a stressful and traumatic process, your delicate neck being yanked, forceps, drugs in mums system, her stress). 

All stresses and stressful moments gets stored in the body. 

When your nervous system becomes overloaded, it stops returning to a healthy baseline; which leads to chronic stress, burnout, and physical symptoms.

I have worked with people for 19 years, and many of those who come to me have already tried everything else to calm down and decrease stress. The normal approaches simply won't get that depth you need.

Why this works:

Simply put; Stress gets stored in the body. When the body has too much stress, it reaches a point where it's like a 'switch' has been activated and the stress response stays on. 

We teach the body how to turn that switch off. We help you move out of survival mode.

From here, the body can adapt to normal everyday life.

A more scientific way to explain it; Too much stress creates tension in the body as it adapts. This causes the system to be in a dysregulated state.

This dysregulated state causes the spine to adapt with spinal cord tension patterns.

These are adaptive responses, but cause us to live in survival. From here, we activate different parts of the brain and nervous system.

The work we do teaches the body how to become more healthily and regulated by releasing that bound tension in the spine and body.
